Privacy policy
Last updated 21 October 2026
Camerino is a Chrome extension and a service that shows how clothes you find online might look on you. This policy explains what data it uses and why. It is run by Berend Harms ("we"). Contact for any privacy question: bharmsuva@gmail.com.
What we collect
- Account: your email address and a hashed password (we cannot read your password), the time you signed up, and a sign-in token for each browser you use.
- Photos of you: the photos you add. The extension makes them smaller (at most 1536 pixels on the long side) and removes hidden data such as GPS location before they leave your computer.
- Clothing images: images you drag, paste or choose. If you use the right-click menu on a store page, we also read the product title, price, brand and page address from that page, only at that moment.
- Results: the AI-generated images we make for you.
- Usage: how many images you asked for today, to apply a daily limit.
We do not collect your browsing history. The extension reads a page only when you right-click on it and choose a Camerino action. It does not run on pages in the background.
Why we use it
Only to give you the service: to sign you in, to make try-on images, to check that uploaded images are allowed, to apply limits, and to keep the service safe. We do not sell your data. We do not use it for advertising. We do not use your photos to identify you or to build a face profile.
Who processes it
- Google (Gemini API): receives your photo and the clothing images to make the try-on image, and to check that an uploaded image is allowed (for example, no nude images and no one under 18). Google processes them under its Gemini API terms.
- Fly.io: hosts the service. Your data is stored on an encrypted disk in Paris, France. Fly.io may keep standard technical logs, such as IP addresses.
Google may process data outside the European Economic Area. When this happens, transfers rely on the safeguards Google offers.
How long we keep it
Until you delete it. In the extension, open the account dialog and choose Delete my account. This removes your account, photos, clothing images and results from our service. Encrypted backups of the disk are kept for up to 5 days and then removed.
Each result has a link. Anyone who has the link can see that result. The link stops working when you delete the result or your account. Do not share links you do not want others to see.
Your rights
If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, you can ask us to give you a copy of your data, correct it, delete it or limit its use, and you can object to how we use it. Deleting your account in the extension covers deletion. For anything else, write to bharmsuva@gmail.com. You can also complain to your national data protection authority.
Our legal basis is to provide the service you ask for (contract) and your consent when you add a photo. You can withdraw consent at any time by deleting the photo or your account.
Adults only
Camerino is for people aged 18 or older, and only for photos of yourself. We check uploaded images automatically and refuse images that may show a person under 18, nude or sexual images, and underwear or swimwear.
Security
Connections use HTTPS. Passwords and sign-in tokens are stored only as hashes. No system is perfectly secure, so please use a password you do not use elsewhere.
Changes
If we change this policy in a way that matters, we will update the date above and tell you in the extension.
